Arundhati gets the purpose of India’s USPA law right

In her post on Father Stan’s slow murder, Arundhati again displayed her ability to see the woods rather than the trees. She calls out- ‘It is not that the UAPA is being misused. It was drafted just for this purpose.’

To imprison and kill those critics who have an impeccable public record and thus can not be bumped off, or ‘judge Loyaaed’, without arousing hostility among other citizens, or rather, voters.

The law is perfect. It serves its masters dutifully. With this in place, you can easily murder an 84 year man who is the darling of the oppressed without losing a single vote. In fact, it helps strengthen the conviction of some fence-sitters that India is indeed in danger and therefore we must vote for those who are boldly tackling it.

What is the part played in this of the various bureaucrats, police officers and legal officers of the government. None. They are just good public servants, executing the will of the supreme master. It could also be that they are merely protecting their jobs and their families. Yes, that’s reasonable.

That’s the beauty of this law. It allows every player of this slow murder to remain blemish-free, at least in this world. What will happen to them in the other, is no concern of the drafters of this law.
